1st Quarter:
No Score
Broncos P Todd Sauerbrun opened the game with a 64 yd kickoff. Bills CB Terrence McGee returned it for 19 yds before being pushed out of bounds by Broncos TE Nate Jackson. Buffalo managed three 1st downs before QB J.P. Losman was sacked by Broncos LB D.J. Williams for a loss of 14 on 2nd and 10. Buffalo was forced to end their 1st possession with a punt. 7 - 0 Bills lead
The Broncos started their first drive on their own 1 yd line. They managed one 1st down with a 33 yd carry by RB Travis Henry on 2nd and 9 at the 2. Unable to capitalize, Denver was forced to punt. The kick was fielded by Parrish who returned it 74 yds for a Bills TD.
7 - 3 Bills lead
The Broncos answered with a 10 play, 66 yd drive resulting in a 21 yd FG by K Jason Elam. Key Plays: WR Javon Walker 13 and 21 yd receptions, TE Daniel Graham 15 yd reception.

2nd Quarter:
7 - 6 Bills lead
Buffalo went 3 and out to start the 2nd quarter and Denver got the ball back with 14:07 remaining in the half. They managed a 1st down on 2nd and 5 with a 12 yd reception by Walker but were unable to convert again and were forced to punt. Buffalo went 3 and out again and the Broncos got the ball back on their own 33. Broncos QB Jay Cutler opened the series with a 10 yd strike to WR Brandon Marshall. He then converted 3rd and 6 with an 8 yd pass to WR Brandon Stokley. Henry added another 15 yds on the ground but 3 incomplete passes later, Elam added 3 pts with a 48 yd FG to narrow the score.
The Bills marched down the field on their next possession to attempt a 45 yd FG but the ball went wide left. Key Plays: McGee 48 yd kickoff return from the 2 yd line, WR Josh Reed 12 yd run on a reverse, TE Robert Royal 12 yd reception, Broncos S John Lynch sacked Losman for a loss of 11 on 3rd and 11.
The Broncos started the next drive on their 35. On 3rd and 1, Cutler threw a deep pass to Stokley resulting in a 34 yd gain on the conversion. On the next play, Cutler was intercepted by S Jim Leonhard at the 8 who returned the ball 36 yds to the 44.
Denver returned the favor with an interception by DL Elvis Dumervil at the Denver 45. He returned the ball 27 yds to end the half.

3rd Quarter:
Denver opened the second half with the first possession. On the kick return, WR Dominik Hixon ran the ball out of the endzone to the 20 and was hit by TE Kevin Everett, who was injured on the play. Everett was removed from the field by ambulance. The Broncos converted on 3rd and 7 with a 17 yd strike to Walker. On the next play, Cutler completed to Stokley for 23 yds at the 40. They managed 5 more yds to set up a 50 yd FG attempt by Elam but the kick went wide left.
14 - 6 Bills lead
Buffalo's next drive resulted in 23 yd TD run by RB Marshawn Lynch. The Bills went 59 yds in 9 plays with the help of a Reed reception of 19 yds, and 48 yds on the ground by Lynch. Key Play: Losman fumbled on the Denver 24 but the ball was recovered by Bills RB Anthony Thomas to maintain possession.
14 - 12 Bills lead
The Broncos answered with a TD of their own with a short pass to Marshall for 5 yds. The 2 pt conversion attempt failed when Cutler's pass to Walker fell incomplete. Key Plays: Henry 15 and 21 yd receptions and 15 yd run, Marshall 15 yd reception.

4th Quarter:
Buffalo opened up the final quarter by going 3 and out and punted to Denver. The Broncos managed 26 yds but punted on 4th and 5 at their own 37. An 11 yd catch by Selvin Young was challenged and reversed at the 32, slowing momentum. Two possessions later, the Broncos drove 50 yds to set up a 43 yd FG attempt by Elam. The kick went wide right, his second miss of the game. Key Plays: Cutler 11 yd scramble, Marshall 19 yd reception, Henry 4 carries for 25 yds.
15 - 14 Broncos Win
The Broncos defense held the Bills to 3 and out on their ensuing possession and Denver got the ball back with 2:13 in the game. On 2nd and 13 at the Denver 31, Cutler fumbled the ball but it was batted out of bounds by rookie RB Selvin Young to save possession. On 3rd and 23, Cutler connected with Walker for a 21 yd gain, setting up 4th and 2. Cutler scrambled 7 yds for the 1st. Three plays later, on 3rd and 13, Cutler connected with Walker for 11 yds for another 4th and 2 at the Buffalo 43. This time, an 8 yd strike to Walker set up the 1st. Three plays later, the Broncos converted again, this time on 3rd and 10 to set up 1st down on the Buffalo 24. Denver special teams managed to get on the field in 10 seconds and Elam kicked the game winning FG with :01 on the clock from 42 yds, to start off the first 1-0 Broncos season since 2004.
