1st Quarter:
3 - 0 Broncos lead
Denver opened with the first possession of the game and ended the drive with a 44 yd FG off the foot of K Jason Elam. Key play: RB Selvin Young 34 yd run.
3 - 3 Tie game
Kansas City was forced to punt on their opening drive and the Broncos picked up 38 yds with a reception by WR Brandon Marshall on 1st down. But 2 plays later, QB Jay Cutler's pass intended for WR Brandon Stokley was intercepted by Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson and returned for 12 yds. The Chiefs went 19 yds with the help of a 16 yd reception by WR Dwayne Bowe but stalled at the 21. They settled for a 38 yd FG off the foot of K Dave Rayner.

2nd Quarter:
5 - 3 Chiefs lead
The Broncos went nowhere on their ensuing drive and the Chiefs got the ball back at their own 26. Two plays later, Chiefs QB Damon Huard was picked off by Broncos CB Karl Paymah at the 2. Denver was unable to get past their own 10 however and was forced to punt. The punt was blocked by Chiefs S Bernard Pollard and the ball rolled out of bounds in the end zone for a safety.
6 - 5 Broncos lead
Kansas City went 3 and out and the Broncos got the ball back at their own 34. They managed to go 34 yds where they stalled, settling for a 50 yd FG. Key Plays: Marshall 17 yd reception, Stokley 13 yd reception.
8 - 6 Chiefs lead
The lead swung back to KC with a 36 yd FG with just over 2 minutes left in the half. Key Plays: Bowe 13 and 23 yd receptions. Cutler and Marshall were injured on the Broncos final drive of the half but both came back in to the game.

3rd Quarter:
13 - 8 Broncos lead
KC had first possession to start the 2nd half but on 3rd down Huard's pass intended for WR Eddie Kennison was tipped by Broncos S Hamza Abdullah and intercepted by CB Dre Bly, who ran it back 18 yds to the KC 31. Three plays later, Young ran 20 yds for the TD.
20 - 8 Broncos lead
Broncos P Todd Sauerbrun kicked off a touchback to set up KC at their 20. On 1st and 10, Huard was sacked by Broncos DE Elvis Dumervil who knocked the ball loose. It was recovered by LB Nate Webster who ran 17 yds for the TD. The fumble was challenged but upheld.
20 - 11 Broncos lead
KC put 3 more on the board with a 39 yd FG 8 minutes into the half. The Broncos went 3 and out and the Chiefs ate up the clock into the 4th quarter but missed a 53 yd FG attempt wide left.

4th Quarter:
27 - 11 Broncos win
Denver answered with 7 more on an 18 yd TD reception by TE Daniel Graham. The following 2 drives were fruitless for both teams except for an INT for Broncos CB Champ Bailey. Both Young and RB Andre Hall fumbled but recovered for gains. KC's final drive got them to the Denver 3 but backup QB Brodie Croyle was sacked for a 12 yd loss on 4th down to keep the score at 27-11. Cutler then knelt to end the game.
