1st Quarter:
No Score
Jacksonville opened the game with the first possession. They advanced to their own 40 yd line where QB David Garrard was sacked by Broncos DT Alvin McKinley for a loss of 4 and a 4th and 10. The Broncos were equally unsuccessful in moving the ball, going 3 and out and punting from their own 39.

2nd Quarter:
7 - 0 Jaguars lead
After starting their next drive 5:07 into the 1st quarter, the Jags ran almost 12 minutes off the clock, capping the 18 play, 80 yd drive with a 3 yd TD pass to WR Reggie Williams. Key Plays: RB Fred Taylor 19 yd run, RB Maurice Jones-Drew two 10 yd runs, Garrard 12 yds scrambling. An earlier TD run by Garrard was nullified by an illegal shift penalty on Jacksonville to set up 3rd and 9 on the 12. A short pass to Drew gained 10 yds and a 1st down to start the 2nd quarter. Three plays later Williams found the end zone.
7 - 7 Tie Game
The Broncos got the ball back with 13:09 left in the half and were facing 3rd and 14 at their own 16 after an offensive pass interference penalty on WR Brandon Stokley. QB Jay Cutler fired a deep pass to WR Brandon Marshall for a 49 yd gain. Denver converted again on 3rd and 4 with short pass to Marshall for 12 yds. Another 10 yd penalty and a 4 yd loss by RB Mike Bell and the Broncos faced 2nd and 24 at the 31. Cutler threw to Marshall again for 30 yds and one play later, TE Nate Jackson found the end zone on a 1 yd reception.
14 - 7 Jaguars lead
Jacksonville answered with a 4 yd TD run by RB Greg Jones just after the two minute warning. Key Plays: Drew punt return for 42 yds to set up 1st down on their own 48 yd line, WR Dennis Northcutt 21 yd reception.
17 - 7 Jaguars lead
Denver got the ball back at their own 20 and opened the drive with a short pass for 4 yds to Marshall. On 2nd and 6 Rookie RB Selvin Young caught a short pass from Cutler and took it 17 yds to the 41 where he fumbled the ball. The Jags recovered and drove down to the 1 where K John Carney kicked a 19 yd FG. Key Play: Northcutt 16 yd reception.

3rd Quarter:
20 - 7 Jaguars lead
The Broncos had 1st possession to open the 2nd half but on the kickoff return, WR Domenik Hixon returned the ball 20 yds from 2 deep in the end zone where he was hit by Jags RB Montell Owens and fumbled the ball. Jacksonville recovered and Denver challenged the ruling but it was upheld. The Jaguars were unable to get a 1st down and Carney kicked his 2nd FG, this time for 27 yds.
Denver went 3 and out on their ensuing possession and Jacksonville got the ball back at their own 20. The Jags drove to the Denver 45 with the help of an 18 yd reception by TE Marcedes Lewis. On 3rd and 6, Garrard was sacked by Broncos DL Elvis Dumervil for a 10 yd loss. Garrard lost the ball and Dumervil recovered at the 45. There was an offensive holding penalty on the play but Denver declined. The Broncos drove to the 3 with the help of Marshall (17 and 13 yd receptions) and faced 4th and 1. A QB sneak attempt yielded no gain and Jacksonville regained possession.

4th Quarter:
20 - 14 Jaguars lead
Denver opened the final quarter with a 6 yd TD run by RB Travis Henry. Key Plays: Stokley 14 and 16 yd receptions.
Jacksonville drove 82 yds on their ensuing drive with the help of an 18 yd reception by Lewis, a 23 yd reception by TE Greg Estandia, a 12 yd run by Taylor and a 19 yd scramble by Garrard. A defensive pass interference call on Denver set the Jags up with 1st and goal on the 1 yd line. Garrard handed off to Drew who was tackled by Broncos S Nick Ferguson for a loss of 1. Drew fumbled the ball and it was recovered by Broncos S Curome Cox at the 4.
23 - 14 Jaguars Win
The Broncos started the drive at their own 4 and gained 3 before losing 4 on a Cutler sack. They gained only 6 on 3rd and 11 and chose to go for it on 4th and 5 from their own 9. The pass fell incomplete, and a 5 yd delay of game penalty set Jacksonville up with 1st and goal at the 4. Denver kept them out of the end zone but an 18 FG by Carney widened the lead to two scores.
Denver got the ball back with 2:10 left to play and Hixon returned the ball to the 25 to start the drive. Cutler's deep pass to Marshall on 1st down fell incomplete but on 2nd, Young took the ball 20 yds to set up the 1st at the 45. Cutler threw a deep bomb intended for Stokley but it was picked off by Jags S Sammy Knight. Garrard then knelt to run out the remaining 1:40 and seal the win.
